Lettye was born in rural Carney, Okla. on January 19, 1941 to James Arthur Martin (father) and Mina Margrett Johnson. Lettye did not come into this world alone. She had a identical twin Lydia Marie who was by her side growing up and had many laughs, tricking people because they looked alike. She grew up in Carney, Okla. And attended school there. Lettye obtained her G.E.D. later in life. She met and married Donald James Burrow Sr. of Tryon, Okla. on August 23, 1955.
Lettye and Don made their home North of Tryon, Okla. They raised cattle, pigs, chickens, and a "BIG" garden, which fed the family and everybody who needed something. They also raised watermelons and pumpkins, which they were famous for! They worked hard to provide for their family's needs. Lettye was a mother to 3 children and worked for OSU for 28 years. Lettye attended Liberty Methodist Church in her early years. Later she attended the Assembly of God Church of Tryon and the First Christian Church of Tryon. Lettye was always helping people in the community with all her God given talents, but most of all was her Love of God, her family, and friends. Lettye helped go get food for the Tryon Food Bank; arrange Events as Tryon Main Street President doing the Annual Founder's Day for 3 years.
Some of Lettye's favorite hobbies were going coon hunting with her black and tan coon dogs. Lettye also loved to fish and hunt wild mushrooms. She had a little dog named Buddy, who was her companion in her later years. Lettye would come home after a full day of work and continue to work at home, beside her husband and children.
Lettye was a person in the area that did Farm Kill Custom Butchering of all kinds of animals. One season, back in October 2000 to January 2001, she processed 300 deer. Once Lettye even butchered an Ostrich, for a local veterinarian.
