Lasater
March 24, 1925 – July 27, 2021
Lynn Lasater passed peacefully from this life on July 27, 2021. He was born on March 24, 1925, east of Yale, Oklahoma to parents William Lasater and Myrtle (Going) Lasater into a large family of seven children. His older brothers: John, Earl (Skeet), Marvin, and sisters: Ruby, Opal, and Bea were an important part of his life. Later came Bobby, Bess and Lum.
In October of 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army. He spent 6 months at Fort Bliss, Texas and was then sent to Hawaii for 12 months. His job was guarding German prisoners.
After returning home he married Dorothy Colleen Niccum, on August 16, 1947, at the First Methodist Church Parsonage in Perry, Oklahoma. In September 1950, when the 45 th engineers were mobilized, Lynn went to Camp Pulk, LA for 6 months. Then he was shipped to Japan for 10 months and on to Korea.
When Lynn came home to the United States on April 25, 1952, he saw his daughter Gloria Lynn for the first time. During the next few years two more children were born, Alma Arleen in October of 1953, and Rex Olen in April of 1955. Brett Arlen would follow in 1967.
In 1960 Lynn became a Charter Member of the Highland Park Methodist Church of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Through the years he was a contract pumper. In 1991 he went to work for MerCruiser in Stillwater. He worked at MerCruiser until he was 82 years old.
Lynn is survived by his children, Gloria Dayton and husband Michael, Alma Hayes and husband Jim, Rex Lasater and Brett Lasater; his grandchildren whom he adored: Kristal Lasater, Nathan Lasater and wife Sarah, Chad Dayton and wife Colleen, Andrew Dayton and wife Ashley, and Heather Lasater, along with granddaughter in law Candy Hayes; great grandchildren: Laney Wardrop, Karsen Stephens, Skylar Hayes, Paisley, Kyah and Nash Dayton; one sister, Bess Fredrickson of Scottsdale, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, one grandson Scotty Hayes, and great granddaughter Cassidy Lasater.
At the age of 6, Lynn taught himself to play the guitar. Music was always a joy to him. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather… and his family meant everything to him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
