Marilyn R Blanton Godfrey, a longtime Cushing resident passed way from this life on May 26, 2019 at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Cushing.  Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, OK.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Marilyn was born on November 18, 1935 to the late Tom and Edith Blanton in Drumright, OK. Marilyn grew up in Drumright and graduated from Drumright High School. Marilyn attended business school in Tulsa as well as OSU before becoming an office manager for an OKC oil company.   Marilyn married James Godfrey in 1958 and unto this union they were blessed with two children.  Marilyn worked for several businesses in Cushing where she got to know and made many friends along the way. She was an active member in the Methodist church where she helped with VBS and was a member of the women's group at the church.  She was best known as a loyal member of the church choir and being a very loving Christian.   Marilyn's prayers were known to many and she never turned down an opportunity to pray for someone whether they knew it or not.

Marilyn is survived by her husband James, children Ron Godfrey and Tina Harris, grandchildren Eli Godfrey and wife Rosie, Gram Godfrey, Howard Harris,  David Harris and wife Kerri, great grandchildren Elijah, Payton and Lexi Godfrey, Jaxon Harris and JJ Williams.   Her sister Joyce and husband Wayne Walton, sisters-in-law  Charlette and husband Jerry Perryman, and Millie Blanton, loving family of nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, two brothers Bill and wife Norma, Bob Blanton and son in-law Kenny Harris.
