Obituary

Marion Inez Smith, beloved wife and mother passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Stillwater, OK.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Cushing, OK.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

The daughter of the late Marion Inez Harmon and Bertha (Robertson) Harmon.  Marion was born on March 14, 1938 in Cushing, Oklahoma.  Marion was reared and educated in Modesto, CA.; graduating from Thomas Downey High School with the Class of 1954.  Following high school, Marion attended Modesto Junior College in 1955.

Marion was united in marriage to Marvin Bryant Smith on January 21, 1960 in Modesto, California.  Marion worked as a liaison between the families and school for the Ceres public schools in Ceres, California for 20 years.  Marion was very proud of her children and from 1965 to 1966 she was voted the outstanding den mother.  She enjoyed traveling to many different places.  Marion also enjoyed playing piano for The Disciples, Dale Wells, John Malget, Bryant Smith, Chris Bair, Ronnie Preston, and Billy Preston.  Together they played in as many as 194 concerts a year together.  Marion loved God's people every where she went.  Marion and Bryant traveled many places, the world's largest rodeo in Canada, Travia College singing school in Nashville, TN., where she met the Gaithers and spent two weeks with them at the school.  Marion was a former member of the First Christian Church for 10 years; and had been attending Freewill Baptist Church.  Marion and Bryant were Co-founders of the Cushing Care Clinic.

She leaves behind her three children: Randell Busby, Wendell Busby and wife, Janet, Melody "Suzzett" Spargur and husband, Paul; three grandchildren: Jason L. Busby, Andrew Worden, and Adam Worden; two step grandsons: Kory Spargur and wife, Kayla and children, and Kyle Spargur and wife, Bonnie and children; brother: Robert Lotspiech and wife, Judy.  Marion also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant.
