Obituary

Marlin Wayne Corter, passed away at the age of 74 on August 1, 2023, at his home in Cushing, OK.

He was born in Exter, California on March 28th, 1949, to the parents of Harvey Eugene and Geraldean (Toles) Corter.  He was baptized February 2nd, 1964, by Brother Dick Lewis in Louisburg, MO.  He started speaking prophecy at 15 years of age and began to be used in the ministry at 18 years old.  While growing up, his father traveled much among the brethren from Tulare, McKinleyville, Redding, Wichita, and Louisburg MO.  He graduated from Tulare Western High School in Tulare California in 1967.  He was in FFA in high school and showed dairy heifers and sheep.  During his senior year, he became the FFA President.  He was very proud of this and talked about it throughout his life.  He married Ruby Jane (Hamm) in 1968 and from this union, six children were born, Jeff, Kimberly, Sabrina, Tristan, Aaron, and Adam.  Shortly after they were married, he was drafted into the Army and served during the Vietnam war.  He was honorably discharged from the Army to be able to come home and take care of his family after his father had suffered a heart attack.  Ruby passed away in 1996.  Wayne then remarried in 2003 to Shawn-elyn Fahrny.  They had one child together, Delaney-Linn.  Wayne also raised her son Asher as his own.  Wayne was very involved in his last two children's 4-H projects and FFA animal projects.  He highly enjoyed helping them buy, train, raise and show their animals at shows all over Oklahoma and even traveled with them across the United States showing their Dexter cattle.  After his retirement from Dolese Brothers in Stillwater, he worked on the family farm and at the family-owned truck dispatching company.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of God, his country, animals, old western movies, raisin and coconut cream pie, politics, and his family.

Wayne is survived by Shawn-elyn; his seven children and their spouses Jeff and Sheila of Enid, Sabrina and Tony McFarlin of Agra, Tristan and Chrissy of Cushing, Aaron and Jessica of Agra; Adam of Cushing, Asher of Cushing and Delaney-Linn of Cushing; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Becky Burt (husband Danny) of Cushing and sister Sheryl Buckner of Wichita; brother Richard Corter of Cushing; and numerous other family members and friends.  He is proceeded in death by his first wife Ruby; his parents, Harvey and Geraldean; his brother Wayman and his daughter Kimberly.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16th, 2023, at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Carney, OK with Brother Darrell McFarlin officiating.  All are welcome to attend.
