Martinez "Duke" McKinney Sr., 69, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed away on July 28, 2025. Born on September 23, 1955, Martinez was a vibrant, joyful soul whose love for music, laughter, and people made him unforgettable.

He is survived by his son, Martinez McKinney Jr., and his beloved grandchildren: Azarion McKinney, Kayani McKinney, Genesis McKinney, Legacy McKinney, Makiah Shanklin, and Kamarion Shanklin. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren: Marshia Shanklin, Adrian Shanklin, Pete Shanklin, Kendra Turner, and Cameron Mason.

He is remembered with love by his siblings: Keith McKinney (Shamrock, OK), Marland McKinney (Langston, OK), Maxine Tucker (Cushing, OK), Inetta Liggins (Cushing, OK), and Nadine Henderson (Houston, TX).

Martinez was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosia McKinney, and his parents, Florence and Marland McKinney.

A true lover of music, Martinez could often be found singing his heart out during karaoke nights, casting a line at his favorite fishing spots, or bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. He was the life of the party, with a heart just as big as his personality. Martinez's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home.  The family will be holding a Celebration of Duke's life at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
