Obituary

Mary Jane (Evans) Crane passed peacefully from this life on May 22, 2025, in Agra, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 17, 1955, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Cecil Morgan Evans and Aline June (Vail) Evans. Mary was raised in Sapulpa, alongside her 4 sisters. She was always called a goody two-shoes by her sisters, which lovingly continued throughout the years.

Mary was baptized by Brother Eddie Kelch in January 1974 into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. In 1975, Mary met the love of her life, Bert Eugene Crane Jr. Mary said that when she first saw Bert she felt like the Lord told her he was genuine. They soon fell in love. She invited him to church, and he was able to find the faith. After his baptism they were united in marriage on February 28, 1976, at the Turnpike Church of the Firstborn. Their union was blessed with five children: Shannara, Kara, Bert III, Jonathan, and Cory. God brought them through many hardships, and they were able to eventually fully commit their lives to the Lord. They wanted to teach their children the faith and always strove to have a house of prayer. Mary and Bert lived in many different places, including Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. They then settled in Mounds, Ok and lived there until Bert's passing on October 12, 2019. Mary then moved to Agra and helped care for her daughter Shannara. After Shannara passed on October 13th, 2021, Mary diligently sought the Lord about what His will was for her and she felt to move to Vici, Ok where she met many new loved ones. She made a lot of good memories during her short time living there. In November 2024 Mary felt led to move back to Agra where she had one last labor in the Lord towards Sis Evangline, they formed a strong bond and helped one another. She was able to spend the last 6 months of her life living close to the majority of her children.

Mary found joy in the simple things of life. She loved to behold nature, especially the birds and the flowers. She took comfort in God opening her eyes up to the scriptures. Mary always had a testimony of the Lord on her lips, a song in her heart and enjoyed visiting the brethren. Her greatest joy was accomplishing her works in the Lord. Although God blessed her with a big family, she entreated the brethren as her close family as well.

Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bert Crane; her daughter, Shannara Byers; granddaughter, Calleigh Marie Byers; and her parents, Cecil Evans and Aline Vail, and one brother, Cecil Evans Jr.

She is survived by her children: Kara Wright and husband Dennis, BJ Crane and wife Tama, Jon Crane and wife Ashlee, and Cory Crane and wife Heidi. Her cherished grandchildren include Grayson Byers, Kayla Nance and husband Kelton, Hunter Wright, Kadence Skinner and husband AJ, Achaia Crane, Breccan Crane, Chanston Crane, Xander Crane, Ryker Crane, Rhett Crane, Evan Crane, Russell Crane, Millie Crane, and Todd Crane. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Jaxx Nance.Mary leaves behind her siblings: Deborah Lacy, Donna Simmons and husband Justin, Brenda Malone, FaithAnn Harris and Marvin, Denise Goar, and Rance Combs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
