Mary "Sue" Edwards passed from this life on Friday, September 8, 2023, at her home.  She was 91 years young.

Sue was born on February 19, 1932, in Watonga, Oklahoma to parents Bruce and Lillian Belle (Towery) Johnston.  She grew up in Watonga along with her siblings but later moved to Cushing, Oklahoma, where she went to school and later graduated from high school.  Sue then went on to further her education, graduating from Oklahoma A & M (later known as Oklahoma State University) with an associate degree in secretarial sciences.

Sue found a lifelong companion in Jim Edwards with whom she spent the next 52 years with.  They lived and ran their Cushing ranch raising and racing Quarter Horses and cattle.  Sue was a hard-working woman.  Her first employment was at Bassett Clinic in Cushing as a secretary and an assistant.  She then later became a Loan Officer at Farmers National Bank where she worked for 20 years.  Sue and her husband Jim also owned and operated the Perkins Y Livestock Auction for 27 years, making them well known in the community and in the farming and ranching community.  Sue also owned and operated a gift store called Country Cat & Friends in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Although Sue remained busy tending to their businesses, taking care of her daughter Jayme and ensuring her family was fully taken care of, she was also an active member of the Church of Christ in Cushing where she served her Lord faithfully.  Sue and her daughter Jayme also started the Stillwater chapter of the Red Hat Society.

Sue loved her family greatly and in turn, her family and friends deeply loved her and will greatly miss her.  She was a kind, friendly and generous person. Donating to many charities over the years, she was always ready to help others in need.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Edwards and one sister, Virginia Hendricks.

She is survived by her daughter Jayme Richards and husband Paul and twin grandsons Kyle and Ryan all of Perkins and one brother, Bob Johnston of Cushing.

Graveside services for Sue will be at 10AM on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma.  A live stream for Sue's service will also be available on Palmer Marler's website for anyone unable to attend the service.
