Mary Bonita Moore, a lifelong Cushing resident, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Cushing with Pastor Robert Adams of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Star Cemetery in Cushing.
The daughter of the late Gracey Moore and Ruby Freeman Moore, Mary was born on March 7, 1945 in Cushing where she was reared and educated. While living in Cushing, Mary cleaned homes and worked in home health care before she began working for Cushing Regional Hospital in the dietary department. She worked there for nearly 19 years before retiring.
In her spare time she loved to cook, garden and cheer on the OSU Cowboys. Mary loved and supported the First Assembly of God Church. Mary's friends will remember her as a woman who had a great sense of humor and for being caring and compassionate. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many of her friends will miss her "taking care of the neighborhood."
Survivors include two sons, Stephan Moore and his wife Scotia of Branson, MO and Rev. Justin Green and his wife Tiffany of Tulsa, OK; three daughters, Michelle Branscum of Cushing, Krissy Green of Cushing and Heather Moore of Stillwater; 12 grandchildren, Stephan Moore, II, Strong Moore, Trinity Moore, Tirzah Moore, Sentinel Moore, Tacey Moore, Swift Moore, Jamin Moore, Given Branscum, Graci Branscum, Josiah Wright, and Nateah Wright; six brothers, William Moore and his wife Alberta of Wichita, KS, Willard Moore and his wife Audrey of Oklahoma City, OK, Wilbert Moore of Gardena, CA, Wallace Moore of Oklahoma City, and Winford Moore of Oklahoma City and Erskine Moore of San Diego,CA.; four sisters, Odette Scobey of Oklahoma City, Marva Morris and her husband Melvin, Sr. of Cushing, Laura Lou Pierson and her husband Robert of Cushing, and beloved twin sister Emma Moore of Carson, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Moore.
The Moore family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a memorial fund established in Mary's name with the proceeds used for scholarships in her name. These funds can be directed to any Bank of the West.
