Mary Lou Potter, longtime Cushing resident passed peacefully from this life on May 12, 2019. She was born August 17, 1950 in Coffeyville, Kansas to proud parents Clyde and Alene (Price) Wellington. She shared forty-nine beautiful years of marriage with the love of her life, Larry Potter. They eloped in Eureka Springs on May 1, 1970 and never looked back. Larry went to work for Conoco Phillips in 1980 and they relocated to Sweeny, Texas. They gladly accepted a transfer back to Cushing in August of 1986 to be closer to their families and would live in the area until her passing.

Mary's greatest passion was caring for her husband, family, and grandchildren. Mary loved to sew and crochet and had handmade clothes for Brandy and Darren when they were young. She also handmade blankets for each of the grandkids. One of her most cherished memories was a family trip taken to the beach in Mexico. Being around her loved ones was truly the light of her life. When Larry had to go into the nursing home in 2011, Mary would see to his every care always ensuring he had everything he could possibly need. Her daily love and care would continue for eight years until her passing.

Mary is survived by her husband, Larry of Cushing; her mother, Alene Wellington of Coffeyville, KS; children, Brandy Flatt of Moore, OK and Darren Potter and wife Shelley of Cushing, OK; grandchildren, Baylee Flatt, Karley Flatt, Tanner Flatt, and Duncan Flatt all of Moore, OK and Gauge Potter, and Bristal Potter of Cushing, OK; sister, Teresa Crouch and husband Earl of Afton, OK; and many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Wellington and one brother, David Wellington.

The family would like to extend a warm thanks to Physician's Choice Hospice and Linwood Nursing Home staff for their loving care and assistance in caring for mom.

Memorial Services will be held to celebrate her life at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
