Matthew Gene Baker, Matt to his friends and family, passed from this life on September 16, 2025. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on November 3, 1983. Matt grew up north of Ripley and graduated from Ripley High School in 2002. He grew up around the oilfield and the family business, Baker Well Service Inc. After graduation he started working at the well service full time. He worked his way up to operator and spent several years at that position. He left the well service to start his own business, Boss Trucking. Through his trucking company, he was able to continue working with the oilfield as well as other jobs.
On May 4, 2018, Matt married Shauna Mick in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, blending their families. They shared a passion for travel and adventure. Matt loved the outdoors, 4-wheeling the mountains of Colorado, traveling and doing new things. One of his favorite things to do was to work on his endless car/truck projects.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Roberta Baker, Beverly and Charles Sprague. He is survived by his wife Shauna; children Tyson, Dylan and Bailey; parents Kerry and Janice Baker; his brother Clay and wife Amber, their children Blake, Dalton , Alex and Gage; his grandfather Jerry Baker and many other relatives and friends.
Matt lived life with the throttle wide open and lived life to the fullest. His absence will be profoundly felt by those that knew him and his spirit will continue through his family and friends.
Graveside will be held Tuesday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, north of Ripley. Matt will get one last ride with his truck from his house (6222 S. Council Creek Rd., Ripley) to the cemetery. The procession will leave at 9:30 for anyone that would like to join.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
