Obituary

A longtime Yale resident Larry Craig, age 64, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home. Larry was born August 17, 1960, in Edmond, Oklahoma to Gary Craig, of Houston, Texas and Barbara Love Reeder of Yale, Oklahoma.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Services will be held at Underwood Cemetery, 1315 S Underwood Rd, Yale, Oklahoma, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00a.m.

Larry was a 1978 graduate of Yale High School and, after graduating, he began his career in the Pipeline Industry as a Radiographer. Through experience and self-learning, he became certified as an ASNT NDT Level III in four methods and a certified AWS CWI. Throughout his years in the industry, the thing he loved most was the many lasting relationships he made with colleagues and friends along the way. He worked for numerous companies, and traveled extensively throughout the United States from Alaska to Florida and everywhere in between. Wherever his travels took him, he always had a curiosity and drive to explore the local history, enjoy the regional foods, scavenge the pawn and antique shops, and of course his first priority was finding the best fishing hole.

Larry had a multitude of interests and hobbies. He was truly a "jack of all trades" and master of many, including small engine repair, electronics, woodworking, and gardening. If it could be fixed – he could fix it. He was an active ARL member and enjoyed talking around the world on his ham radio. He was also a lifetime NRA member. He was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour, enjoyed country music (especially Dwight Yoakum), and loved western movies. His dogs Sadie and Duke were his "best friends" and were as loyal to him as he was to them.

He was happiest and had the most fun surrounded by his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved engaging them in activities increasing their curiosity and knowledge in gardening, woodworking, shooting sports, and gun safety. From teaching them how to build and launch model rockets to hosting fall hayrides to exploring his land with a metal detector – spending time with Larry was always a unique and memorable experience. Every time was a new adventure, earning him the nickname "Huckleberry Larry."

He is survived by his three children, Jeremy (Macki) of Yale, Oklahoma, Justin of Terlton, Oklahoma, and Jesse of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Makiya, Hagen, Gaby, Bella, Dani, Liberty, and Cynthia; parents Gary Craig of Houston, Texas, and Barbara Reeder (Tom) of Yale, Oklahoma; brothers and sisters Mike Craig of Yale, Oklahoma, Alanna Craig (Kent Johnson) of Houston, Texas, and Tommy Reeder (Stacey) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews: Kali and Clark Johnson, and Tai, Tanner, and Quyen Reeder.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Yale United Methodist Church.
