Miranda Lee
Thompson
August 30, 1982 – August 9, 2021
Miranda Lee Thompson was born on August 30 th , 1982 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Wes and Angie Easter. She was born during some difficult times in Wes and Angie's life, so they nicknamed her "Sunshine" because she brightened up their world. Miranda was the oldest of 3 children. Their mother went down with her health, so at 11 years old, Miranda took on the role of Mother Hen with great pleasure. She made sure that her younger brother and sister took care of their school and did their chores, without much consideration to how her siblings would accept their step-in mom.
Miranda's Dad said that she was their "noise maker" because she was always singing. Singing doing the dishes. Singing in the shower. Singing on the back porch. Swinging and singing. Psalm 7:17 says "I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high." Miranda kept a song in her heart throughout her life. Even when she couldn't sing because of her health, she wanted to "at least" listen to singing. At 14 years, Miranda began her walk with the Lord on December 11 th , 1996, and was baptized by Brother Bob Byers.
When Landis began dating Miranda, it took just a few weeks for him to realize what he had. They were soon engaged and married on October 20 th , 2001. It wasn't very long before Miranda was expecting their first child, Casen, who was born on October 15 th , 2002. Miranda loved her little boy and nicknamed him her "Sugar Bear," because she loved to give him sugars (or kisses). Soon after Casen was born, she was expecting their second child, Creed, who was born on July 4 th , 2004. Miranda loved to hold her new baby boy. He would snuggle so close to her so he was nicknamed her Snuggle Bug. Miranda's joy was so full with the family that the Lord gave her and she truly cherished every moment.
Miranda had a special place in her heart for the mountains and going hiking. Every opportunity that the family had, they packed up a lunch and headed to the mountains to enjoy God's beautiful creation together. She also enjoyed doing special things for those she held dear. She would create sweet cards, buy little gifts to send, make a special dinner (especially for her family's birthdays), decorate for showers, host the brethren in her home, or simply check on whoever the Lord brought to her mind. Her nature was caring and nurturing, with a bit of bossy sprinkled in.
In February of 2015, Miranda's health begin to fail. She suffered with many different afflictions, the most prominent being her heart. These afflictions stole time with her family, stole time with the brethren, stole time in the mountains, among other things; but, NEVER stole the joy she had in the Lord. She was unable to speak above a whisper for several years which meant she couldn't sing, but when her family would sing for her, or some of her favorite songs would play, she would still mouth the words to keep praising her God in the way she always cherished.
Landis and Miranda felt that the Lord would give them opportunity to re-gain some of the things that were taken from them during this trial. So, on November 1 st , 2020, they sold their house and moved into an RV full time. God granted them the ability to go among His people again. Although Miranda still suffered considerably with her afflictions and had many difficult days, God blessed her with some improved health in that she could visit again and even some days, was able to sing with her family, though at times, only a few words.
One of her greatest treasures took place the last Easter Sunday, when God blessed her with enough strength to go inside the church at Tucson, Arizona, where she sat in a 3-hour meeting and even testified of God's mercy toward her. That was the first time she sat in meeting in 5 years, and was blessed to sit in 5 other assemblies after that.
One of God's most recent blessings to Miranda was allowing her to go to the Idaho camp meetings and drive through the mountains. She cherished every moment there, spent special time with her brethren and one on one time with her family. God granted her the desires of her heart by filling up her days in sharing testimonies of God's goodness. Just two short weeks later, she gently passed on August 9, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Erwin and Kareth Easter. She is survived by her husband, Landis Thompson, her two sons, Casen and Creed Thompson, her parents Wes and Angie Easter, her sister, Merissa Day and husband Brandon and her brother, Trent Easter and wife Amie, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and brethren whom she loved.
