Mona Leeora (Britton) Smith, age 91, of Cushing, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Cushing.
Mona was born November 23, 1933, to Clyde Britton Sr. and Alma Huddleson in Gary, Oklahoma. At the age of 15, she married Donald Smith in Yale, Oklahoma. Mona was proud to have received her GED and had a knack for selling Sarah Coventry jewelry.
As a hobby, Mona spent many years compiling genealogy information and had a passion for art; she especially loved ceramic dolls and oil painting. Mona enjoyed flowers, gardening, and playing the guitar. She loved to play games and puzzles, especially crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Britton Sr. and Alma Huddleson; her sisters, Donna Johnson, Bonnie Star, and Nancy Brace; and her brother, Clyde Britton Jr.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Smith of Cushing; her sons, Buddy Smith (Dianne) of Denton, Texas and Dennis Smith (Rita) of Meeker, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Seth Smith (Janie), Christy Graham (Matthew), Lauralee McGinley (Jim), Brian Smith, Jason Smith, and Joshua "Josh" Smith (Melissa); 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, plus two on the way; her brothers, Robert Britton (Donna) and Virgil Simpson; and her sister, Pearl Thomas (Chuck).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
