She had many occupations and owned several businesses with her husband Jerry. She worked as a switchboard operator at a telephone company and was a dental hygienist as well. She worked at Tryon School, helped load trucks for Feed the Children and had a street ministry in Oklahoma City for 5 years with her husband. She did many things but was most passionate about her work with fostering and special needs children. She participated in Special Olympics and was a recipient of the Diana Award in 2001-2002. She loved crafting and entered projects in the Lincoln Co. Fair for 30 years, winning several ribbons. She was a long-time member of the Tryon Assembly of God church in Tryon Ok.

She is preceded in death by husband Jerry Durbin, foster daughter April Shepherd, great-granddaughter Alyse Durbin, parents, half-brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and lots more.
