Nelma Iwana Gills passed from this life to her eternal home on June 8, 2024 at her home in Cushing, Oklahoma. Nelma was born on January 21, 1933, to parents Milton and Ruby (McMillon) Harrison in Marlow, Oklahoma. She and her sister Barbara grew up in the Marlow area where she also graduated from high school.
Nelma married her high school sweetheart, Elroy Ivy, and had their two children Roy Lynn and Gary Don Ivy. Nelma was an absolute sweetheart of a person, willing to give of herself, no matter who it was. Nelma was a long-time member of Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where their family lived. She made sure to abide by the principles and teaching of her Lord all the days of her life.
Nelma is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Elroy.
She is survived by her children Roy Ivy and wife Mimmie Smith and Gary Ivy and wife Cynthia; four grandchildren, Timothy Ivy and wife Christine, Heath ivy and wife Brenden, Heather Lassley and husband Ross and Rachelle England and husband Steve; seven great grandchildren, Gary Don Lassley, Gillian Lassley, Christopher Ivy, Jordan England, Olivia England, Austin Ivy and Skyler Ivy; two great-great grandchildren, Bailee England and Kassidy England; sister, Barbara Ward and husband Gene Ray and two nephews, Kent Ward and Brent Ward; plus many more friends and relatives who will miss her greatly.
Graveside services will be at 1pm on Friday, June 14 at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, Oklahoma. Pastor Kent Ward will be officiating with services under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
