Obituary

Patsy Ann Wessel blessed the world with her presence starting January 21st, 1940. Born to Samuel Flynn Gaskins and Virgie Mae Gaskins, Patsy was the seventh of eight children, the only sister to seven brothers. She grew up in Slick, Oklahoma, graduating from Slick High School in 1958. Patsy married Earl Lee Wessel on March 1st, 1959. Patsy & Earl were blessed (depending on the day) to raise three sons and a daughter: Randy, Maurice, Tony, and Robyn.

Patsy was a perpetual source of joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Within moments of meeting a stranger, she was sure to tell them how proud she was of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked at the Senior Citizen's Center of Oilton, Oklahoma between April 1979 and November 2021, bringing smiles to the face of everyone, first as a cook and later as the site manager.

Patsy enjoyed cooking for her family, and her family enjoyed her cooking. While she enjoyed hobbies such as playing Skipbo and coloring, she was a master chef who never had to look at a recipe, and never had to worry about having leftovers at a family meal. Her dinner rolls, apple-glazed cookies, and mandarin orange cake were sure to be a hit at every family gathering.

Patsy was a very early riser, making sure to start each morning by reading her Bible and eating a garden-grown tomato, a sausage patty, and a slice of toast. She was a faithful member of Hallett First Baptist Church where Earl served as a pastor for nearly 40 years.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers (Alden, Bill, Tom, Jack, Wendell, and Glendell). She was also preceded in death by her beloved eldest son, Randy. She is survived by her husband Earl of 63 years, brother Jerry Gaskins and wife Darlene of Slick, daughter-in-law Carol Wessel, children Maurice Wessel and wife Robin of Edmond, Tony Wessel and wife Lori of Oilton, Robyn Bohannon and husband Ed of Oilton, as well as grandchildren Matthew and wife Georgia, Kaelie Wessel, Jessica Todd and husband Bryan, Whitney Spears and husband Aaron, Samuel Wessel and fiance Harley, Emily McFarlin and husband Seth, Justin Wessel and wife Madelyn. Patsy is also survived by great-grandchildren Laynee, Easton, Reeve, Emma, Kyler, Everly, and baby Mason, blessing us with his presence November 2022.

Patsy passed from this life on Thursday, September 1st, 2022, at home with family by her side.
