Paul Dean
Richards
November 14, 1962 – February 5, 2024
Paul D. Richards of Perkins, OK passed away unexpectedly at age 61 on Monday, February 5th, 2024, surrounded by his family who adored him.
Paul was born of Harold and Jo Ann Richards on November 14, 1962, at Guthrie, OK. He grew up in Mulhall, OK where he graduated. He was a talented and gifted athlete who loved playing sports and received a full-ride baseball scholarship to Connors State College. To further his education, he also attended Oklahoma State University. Paul later earned an Associate Degree in Agribusiness.
Paul is survived by his spouse Jayme and twin sons, Kyle and Ryan. He is also survived by his mother Jo Ann Richards and his sister, Lesa Boyd and brother Mark Richards.
Paul married the love of his life, Jayme Richards on May 30, 1986. They were inseparable for almost 38 years where they shared extraordinary adventures together.
Paul and Jayme brought their twin boys, Kyle and Ryan, into this world on May 17, 1996. Paul was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a man of integrity, always putting his family's needs above his own. Paul loved nothing more than spending time with his family and bringing them joy and laughter.
Paul put his welding skills he learned in FFA to use at Ditch Witch as a welder for several years. He then became manager of Connecting Point Computer Center in Stillwater, OK. Paul later left Connecting Point to partner and help with the family business at Perkins Y Livestock Commission for many years. When the livestock auction barn burned down, he built his own livestock auction selling cattle and horses. His business was awarded Ag Business of the Year. Paul later became a Land Agent and safety officer for Devon Energy where he managed pipeline projects for Devon Energy.
Paul was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Perkins, OK lodge where he devoted time to many charitable projects. He was an extraordinary man who truly enjoyed helping out friends and even strangers in need. He believed in being charitable to others and took great pleasure in making the world just a little better for someone else. He was friendly to everyone he met. He loved talking to people, telling stories and making people laugh. Paul was such an inspiration to all who knew him. No matter how grim things might get, Paul always kept his faith and sense of humor in spite of the situation.
Paul was a true cowboy and had a passion for ranch life. His love for horses began at a very young age when he bought his first horse in secret and kept the horse on a man's ranch and worked for him for pasture rent. His love of ranching continued throughout his life as he raised cattle and enjoyed riding his horses. He was also a great outdoorsman who loved sharing his passion for hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Paul's love, laughter, and integrity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Paul will be dearly missed by all, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends.
Paul's attitude towards life can be summed up in these words he always said, "life is too short to worry about the little things."
A memorial service for Paul will be at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Mulhall, Oklahoma. Pastor Carson Childers will be officiating.
