Preston Lee Thompson of Cushing, Oklahoma passed away on January 16, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 30. Preston was born on May 11, 1995, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his parents Carl Dale Thompson and Michelle Liane Oliver, one brother Jesse Oliver, one sister Laura Thompson and her partner Chase Pape, one niece Kyndal Jade Pape, his grandmother (Mimi) Linda Ellis, uncle Ronnie Thompson, and his very close cousins Destiny Gladden, Melissa Greene, Britney Thompson, Asia Davis, Niki Davis, and many other relatives and friends.
Preston was preceded in death by his grandfather's Carl Dwight Thompson and Chuck Ellis, grandparents William and Julia Whatley, and his uncle Randy Thompson.
Preston had a love for anime, video games, and Japanese culture. He also had a big passion for reading fantasy and Greek mythology books. In high school he probably read more books in the library than anyone. His passion continued into adulthood, visiting his favorite bookstore Gypsysnark Books anytime he went to Stillwater.
He graduated from Agra High School in 2014. Preston went to work as a snack bar cashier at Sac & Fox Casino in Stroud, Oklahoma in December of 2014. He worked his way up to Cash Operations Manager and was a loyal employee there for 11 years until his passing. Preston had two of the very best friends, Jon and Kaylee Gentry. He was chosen family to them and their children Jaxon and Karson Gentry. He also had a big work family that included his "mama" Carla Morris, and Candice Henry who took him to his very first concert for his 30th birthday to see Katy Perry. Preston is also survived by his two dogs Luna and Coca, which he loved very much and were considered his babies.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Cushing Youth Center.
