After a long battle with lung cancer, Richard Stephen Dooley passed away on October 23, 2019 at his home.

A life-long resident of Cushing, Richard was born on October 8, 1952 in Ponca City to Buck Donald "Don" and Wilma Florene (Dennis) Dooley.  He married Karen Winterscheidt on July 19, 1975 and to this union two sons were born, Shaun Eric and Mark Stephen.

Richard graduated from Cushing High School in 1970.  He also completed Drafting I and II in 1972 from Central Oklahoma Area Vocational Technical School, Drumright.

In grade school Richard had a paper route delivering newspapers for the Cushing Daily Citizen.  In high school, and for a while after graduation, Richard worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Cushing, and later for a short time, worked for a surveyor in Tulsa.

In March 1973 Richard joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 344 of Oklahoma City, completed a four-year apprenticeship training in the trade of pipefitter, and then worked as a pipefitter/welder for over 41 years.  He retired on October 1, 2013.

Richard was a quiet, reserved man but shared his love of "muscle" cars and motorcycles with his sons.  Many weekends were spent traveling to car shows, and it wasn't unusual for a vacation trip to include a side trip to view antique cars.  With his sons he also enjoyed their Boy Scout camping trips and activities and attending their baseball and basketball games.  He loved his family very much.

Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen, and his two sons,

Shaun (April) Dooley of Rogers, Arkansas,

Mark (Stephanie) Dooley of Broken Arrow;

his six grandchildren,

Griffin, Rowan, Phoenix, and Hazel Dooley of Rogers, Arkansas and

Shelby and Ellah Dooley of Broken Arrow;

one brother,

Robert "Bobby" (Sandra "Sandy") Dooley of Ponca City; and

numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, several who live in the Cushing area.

Preceding Richard in death include his father and mother.

Rosary will be Friday, October 25, 2019 at 5:00 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cushing.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
