Robert "Buddy"
Nicholas
July 30, 1955 – May 13, 2022
Robert "Buddy" Nicholas passed from this life with family by his side on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home at the age of 66.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, 800 S. Linwood Ave. Cushing, OK 74023. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Oilton, OK.
Buddy was born on July 30, 1955 on Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana to Bernice Ann (Taylor) and Boyd Wayne Nicholas. He grew up the oldest of 7 children on the family farm in Oilton, OK. He attended school at Surrattsville High School in Prince George's County Maryland, graduating in 1973. Buddy was a fun-loving guy who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his independence. Heat and Air was his trade and a way for him to earn a wage. He worked hard, but only so he could get out and fully enjoy life, especially riding his Harley. He loved the Harley Davidson lifestyle and traveled the country 'out on two wheels' with friends, most likely headed to the next Rolling Stone concert. When he couldn't get out on his bike, Buddy was a history buff and was particularly interested in WWII history. Every Friday night, you could find Buddy with his best friends playing some poker and doing things not fit for an obituary.
Buddy's number one aspect of his life was his family. They came first and he would do anything for them. He loved family gatherings and sharing past experiences with his siblings and having fun with his nieces and nephews.
Buddy was a stubborn and ferociously independent man but was also kind and gentle, with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
Buddy is preceded in death by both his parents, Boyd and Bernice Nicholas and one nephew, Taylor Jaccob Holland.
Buddy is survived by six siblings, Richard M. Nicholas, David W. Nicholas, Eric J. Nicholas, Patricia A. Lasater, Angela D. Winterbottom, and Cynthia L. Nicholas. Buddy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
