Obituary

Robert "Bob" Strader, a longtime Cushing area resident, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 74 years.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Dr. Larry Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

The son of the late Charles Paul Strader and Oma (Clemons) Strader, Bob was born on November 15, 1937 in Yale, OK and was reared and educated in the Norfolk area. He was united in marriage to Beverly Fielding on July 31, 1958 in Pauls Valley, OK and to this union two children, Angela and Eric, were born. Following their marriage they moved to Cushing and in 1960 Bob was drafted into the United States Army. After receiving his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Cushing and began working for Roy Kemp at Kemp Cable Tools. He later worked for Atlantic Ritchfield in Drumright, OK and then owned and operated Strader Cable Tools until the late 1980's. In 1990 Bob began working for Valley Hope in Cushing doing maintenance and carpentry work. He continued working at Valley Hope even during his most recent fight with cancer.

Bob had been a member of the Cushing Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the First Christian Church. Many will remember him for his love of O.S.U. Football, his love of woodworking, old westerns, Hee Haw, and cooking. Bob loved to spend time with his family and his dog Buddy.

Survivors include his wife Beverly of the home; children, Angela Strader and her fiancé Michael Hastings of Cushing and Eric Strader and his fiancé Jami of Cushing; one sister, Iris Mitchell and her husband Mark of Kremlin, OK; four grandchildren, Taylor Shipman and his fiancé Aryan Wright of Cushing, Hailey Shipman and her fiancé D.J. Carpenter of Cushing; Seth Strader of Colorado, and Erica Strader of Cushing; three great-grandchildren, Zoie White, Alexandria Shipman, and Kaydence Shipman; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Hauraghty and three brothers, Charles, Tom, and Sandy Strader.
