Robert Eugene Sutherland Jr., 72, passed away on May 14, 2024, in Cushing, OK. He was born on February 9, 1952, in Ponca City, OK.  Robert was widely known as "Rob" among his friends and loved ones and "Gallopa" by his grandchildren.

Rob had a passion for God, golfing, guns, and old Westerns. He enjoyed spending his free time indulging in his favorite hobbies hunting, cooking and watching any Western TV show that he could find. He went through grade school and high school in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  He spent 10 years as a professional racehorse trainer.  He later attended Texas Aero Tech and became an accomplished Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, spending most of his career with aeronautics company AAR in Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Robert was married to Paula Sutherland. They shared many beautiful years together, creating a lifetime of cherished memories. Rob is survived by and the proud father of Heather Sutherland (spouse James Clayton) Bambi Sutherland (spouse Perry Russell) and Denver Sutherland (spouse Cheyenne Sutherland).  Samuel Wilson, Steven Wilson, and Aaron Wilson became part of his family when he married Paula.   He also leaves behind granddaughters:  Emalie Clayton, Leah McEntire, Kylee Herrmann, Brookelee Russell, Mackenzie Vaughan, Breanna Sutherland, Caden Sutherland, Nakoda Sutherland, Nakita Rose, and Azlynn Taylor-Rose.  He is also survived by his sister Willinda Sutherland and brother Terry Sutherland and sister-in-law Cassandra Sutherland.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Sutherland, his brother Aaron Lee (Bud) Sutherland, and his sister Karen Sue Squires. Also, his granddaughter, Peyton Riley Sutherland.

Loved by all who knew him, Rob was known for his unwavering faith in God and his love for golf and collecting old guns. His dream was to open a gun store someday. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community.

Being a Christian, Robert Eugene Sutherland leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication. His memory will forever be held dear in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
