Ronald
Harnden
November 21, 1942 – September 3, 2023
Ron, age 80, of Oilton, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at approximately 3:15 p.m. while at Ascension St.John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis George and Cora Mae (Demaray) Harnden. Ron was born November 21, 1942, in Peck, Michigan as the 2nd oldest of 5 children. He married Josephine Ann (Izworski) on August 14, 1965, at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Croswell, Michigan. To this union were born 2 children, a daughter and a son. Ron worked in the auto industry for 42 years as a roll mill set up man. He retired in August of 2005. In 2006, they moved to Oilton, Oklahoma, where their family had previously moved to.
Ron grew up on a farm in Brown City, Michigan, where he attended the public schools until completion of the 11th grade. His family moved to Croswell, Michigan, where he completed his senior year graduating in 1961 from Croswell-Lexington High School.
As a boy, Ron loved nature, music and wrestling with his dad and brothers. He raised animals for FFA, participated in archery, pool and bowling. As a teen, he loved cars and old tractors. He played softball, horseshoes and cornhole throughout his lifetime. He loved playing checkers and card games, especially Euchre. Any sport or hobby he did to the very best. He was almost-always unbeatable and everything he did with great care, especially his yard, garden, family and home.
He had a great sense of humor and a great laugh. His passion was his family and time spent together with them. He loved reading his Bible daily, coffee, peanuts, Payday candy bars, lighthouses, and daily walks on the harbor with his sweetheart, Jo. He was a very giving man often going without so someone else could be blessed instead. He loved helping kids and taught little league and peewee, boys' Sunday school, sang in the men's choir, did solos and helped out at the church they attended for 41 years in numerous ways while faithfully attending with his family. In August 2006, they moved to Oilton, Oklahoma to be with their children and grandchildren. They continued to serve in the church wherever needed and in his final years ran the Coffee Fellowship Room on Sunday mornings. Ron was a humble, loving, gentle and kind man with a servant's heart always working behind the scenes. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine (Izworski) Harnden, his son in law and daughter, Bill and Kimberly Renee (Harnden) Baumgarten, his son, Steven James and Tina (Bacon) Harnden; three grandchildren, Brandon and April (Hiett) Baumgarten, Eric and Adalyn (Lay) Baumgarten and Katelyn Ann Baumgarten and two great-grandchildren, Bella Faith and Amelia Grace Baumgarten, two brothers, Gary Harnden from Port Huron, Michigan, Robert and Mona (Sexton)Harnden of Avocado, Michigan, Alice Kay(Harnden) Rathwell of Liberty, Tennessee and Judy (Harnden) Johnston of Peck, Michigan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
