Roy Lee Gazaway, the husband of Patricia Ann Gazaway for 53 years and the son of Albert N. and Vina Gazaway went home to meet the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in the First Assembly of God Church in Yale OK with Reverend Randell Newby officiating.   Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale OK.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, OK.

Roy was born at home on September 6, 1935, in Stillwater OK.  He grew up in the Yale area and graduated from Yale High School.  His time was spent taking care of his family, fishing, coon hunting and driving a school bus in the last 30 or so years of his life.  He considered all the kids on his bus, his kids.  Many of them would take the time to greet him or give him a hug even after they were no longer in school.  Roy also spent many years serving at First Assembly of God Church in Yale OK.  He served as a deacon and also drove the church van.  If you knew Roy, you know that he never met a stranger.  He loved to joke with you and would always be there if you needed a helping hand.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, mother Vina Gazaway, father Albert N. Gazaway, brother Albert E. Gazaway, sister Laura Mae Ryder, and great granddaughter Tynlee Holloway.

He is survived by his four daughters: Kathy Benson and husband Mike of Yale, Teresa Sturgeon and husband Rodney of Gentry, AR, Carol Squires and husband Tim of Yale, and Cheryl Stewart of Yale.  Nineteen grandkids and sixteen great grandkids.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Westhaven and also Physicians Choice Hospice for making his final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

Roy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
