Russell Wayne Hensley passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Yale, OK. He was born on October 25, 1964, to Carl Wayne and Emma Lou (Russell) Hensley in Cushing, OK. Russell attended Yale schools and graduated from Cimarron Christian Academy. He was currently employed as a glazier for Dyer Glass in Tulsa.

Russell had a passion for outdoor activities from an early age, particularly camping and fishing. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and techniques, which he had learned from his father and grandfather, with friends. During his time as a hotel banquet manager, he became quite a good cook. He was the envy of the family, who struggled at gatherings to top his latest creations.

A talented builder and remodeler, Russell frequently collaborated on projects with his best friend, Kirk. Family was always his top priority, and he shared a close bond with his niece Micah and nephew Jason. He adored his great-nephews Aiden and Eli, and great-niece Ella, who in turn loved their Uncle Russell.

Known for his kindness, generosity, and caring nature, Russell always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by many.

Russell is survived by his sister Cindy White and her husband Mike of Yale; brother Willis Hensley and wife Bonnie of Yale; niece Micah Gardner and husband Billy of Oklahoma City; nephew Jason White of Stillwater; great-nephews Aiden Lawson and Eli Gardner; great-niece Ella Gardner; aunt Janice Williams of Edmond; uncle Roy Hensley and wife Cathy of Longview, TX; and of course his beloved canine companion, Ruben.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lou Hensley; maternal grandparents, Willis V. and Agnes Russell; and paternal grandparents, William W. and Wilma Hensley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Yale United Methodist Church.  A burial will follow at Lawson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
