Shane Steven Olney passed from this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Cushing at the age of 47.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A Celebration of Shane's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.
Shane was born on June 19, 1977, to Jessica Lynn (Smith) and Charles Steven Olney in Fort Hood, Texas. Shane and his family were stationed in Germany until the age of 2 when his family moved back to the US. Shane attended school at Cashion, graduating from Cashion High School in 1995. He played football from 5th to 12th grade, attending camps during the summer in Texas. He was starting quarterback all four years of high school. He received a football scholarship from Lindenwood University.
After a couple of years, Shane took his education and skills in a different route. He became a welder and excelled in that field. He started his own welding business and later became a certified welding inspector. After a few short years, Shane became a construction manager.
Shane had two loving boys Truett and Garrett with his first wife Stephanie Ann Shortridge. He enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors with them. While working, Shane met the love of his life Renee in 2008. Together, Shane had his perfect family.
Shane worked hard, but loved to laugh and joke and was quick witted. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, bicycle, and kayaking. He was also an avid fan of OSU football and always rooted for the Pokes.
Shane had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone in need. He was a loving father, son, husband and friend. He will be missed by all.
Shane is preceded in death by father, Charles Steven Olney.
Shane is survived by his wife, Renee; two sons, Truett and Garrett; parents, Jessica and Bill "Pops" Deeds; stepmother, Michele Olney; aunt, Debbie Smith-Quan and husband, Tien; mother-in-law, May Alaback; sister-in-law, Rhonda Escott and husband, Harry.
