Sheril Lee
Butler
September 29, 1947 – June 1, 2024
Sheril Lee (Thomas) Butler passed from this life into the gates of heaven on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Sheril was the fourth of seven children born to Onice and Edith Thomas, entering this world on September 29, 1947, in Galena, Missouri.
Sheril grew up in the Mid-Del City area graduating from Del City High School in 1965. Sheril was born with the spirit of a fighter sprinkled with some orneriness and a bit of stubbornness. She spent her early adult years as a waitress while raising her four children. She spent countless hours advocating for children with disabilities, even though the money was slim, she always managed to make things happen. Not only did Sheril raise her four children, but she also raised three grandchildren.
Later in life, Sheril went back to school and received her bachelor's degree in hotel/restaurant management from Oklahoma State University. Sheril found her way to the Cushing community in 1993 and remained there until her death. She was very active in her church, Council Valley Baptist, until her health declined. She was very fond of the late Pastor Larry Lehr and thought a great deal of her church family. She really enjoyed her time at Falls Creek every year even bringing a few grandkids along with her.
Sheril spent a great deal of time at the Cushing Senior Citizen Center and thought a lot of everyone there. Sheril loved going to the casinos and would hitch a ride there with anyone willing to take her. Sheril was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sheril was preceded in death by her parents, Onice and Edith Thomas; sisters, Beverly (June) Carlile and Gayle Thompson; her only brother, Gary Thomas; brother-in-law, Al Duhe and great grandson Logan.
She is survived by her children Robert (Bobby) Butler and his significant other Dawn Sheppard, Brenda Barton and her significant other Craig Edwards, Jeff Butler, and Ashley Allen and her husband Donnie Allen; sisters, Carol Duhe, Patty Harrold and husband Dennis, Vickie Thomas Wood-Wilder; sister-in-law, Eddy Sires Thomas and brother-in-law, Robert Carlile; eleven grandchildren, Joshuah, Brittanie, Bridgett, Jacob, Jarrett, Justus, Tyler, Amy, Morgan, Dusty, and Molly; fourteen great-grandchildren, Landyn, Bella, Axton, Alexis, Anthony, Connor, Ely, Ethan, Kol, Aspyn, Stetson, Ryder, Madelen and Dayton along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
A visitation will be from 4pm – 8pm on Wednesday, June 5 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 11am on Thursday, June 6 at Council Valley Baptist Church in Yale, Oklahoma. Pastor George Knapp will be officiating with services under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
