Shirley Sue (Houston) Haskin, 86, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on January 26, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 and 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 800 S. Linwood, Cushing, OK.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Avery Cemetery with Reverand George (Marty) Brock III of First Baptist Church Olive, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
Shirley was born in Cleveland, OK to Eugene and Ruby (Hill) Houston on January 12, 1935. She went to grade school at Keystone, OK later graduating from Cushing High School. She married Cleo Curtis Haskin on June 27, 1953 in Cushing, OK at the First Baptist Church. She attended Draughn's Business School in Tulsa, OK. She and her husband owned Cushing Safety Lanes where she kept books. Shirley also worked for Bray Lines in Cushing for several years. She later moved to Norman, OK where she worked at Griffin Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department as a medical transcriptionist and until retirement. She was a member of Faith Point Baptist Church in Norman, OK and enjoyed her church family there very much.
Shirley Haskin is preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Curtis Haskin; her parents, Eugene and Ruby Hill Houston; her brother and spouse Freddie and Lavina Houston; and her sister, Lenora Walker.
Shirley Haskin is survived by her children and their spouses, Debbie and Jeff Taylor of Guthrie, OK, Charlotte and Jim Kennedy, of Seminole, OK, Chris and Michelle Haskin of Stroud, OK, Grandchildren, Delany and Al Walker of Hillsboro, OR, Curtis and Melissa Kennedy of Fisherville, VA and Hayley Taylor of Guthrie, OK; Great-Grandchildren, Faith and Camden Vaughn, Adyson Coon, Terry, Mia and Charlotte Walker, Brody and Daisy Kennedy, she has many nieces and nephews and their spouses who have been a very important part of her life. Calling her, visiting and playing cards with her. She treasured them all.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Kennedy, Camden Vaughn, Terry Walker, Alan Walker, Jeff Taylor, and Jim Kennedy.
Memorials may be given to Faith Point Baptist Church, 3651 Cascade Blvd., Norman, OK 73072 or Gideon's International.
The family of Shirley Haskin wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. King and her Nurse, Hannah, and the staff on Floor 3AB at Mercy Hospital for loving on and taking care of our Mother when we could not be there.
