Obituary

Steven James Harnden, age 55, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 15, 2024, after a long battle of illness.

Steve was born on February 22, 1969, to Ronald and Josephine (Izworski) Harnden in Port Huron, Michigan.  Steve grew up in Croswell, Michigan, where he attended school and graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1987.  He then went to Specs Howard Broadcasting school in Southfield, Michigan, to learn communications and radio.

As a boy, he was extremely energetic and had a winning smile.  He could never sit still. However, his mischievous spirit almost always ended up getting him in trouble.  Steve was a very fast runner, and he could run like a deer, just like his dad!  The high school coach was so impressed he asked Steve to join the track team, which he did.

Steve loved going to church, softball, playing games, video games and music.  Music was his passion.  He learned to play guitar when he was young.  He loved helping around the house and helping with the church youth group, often helping with skits and plays.  He loved to laugh and make people laugh.  He was the life of the party because you never knew what he would say or do that would make you laugh uncontrollably.  He had a big heart and loved people.  He really loved to help people.

Steve left Michigan in July 1994 to move to Oklahoma to pursue a disc jockey job at a radio station.  However, it didn't work out as planned, so he found work at MerCruiser in Stillwater and Economy Supply in Oilton.  He would occasionally DJ for weddings and parties.

He married Tina Carte'e on March 6, 2006.  Through this union he gained two sons Rancesom Carte'e IV and Baylen Carte'e whom he loved and helped raise.  Together Steve and Tina attended Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Oilton and fell in love with the people.  They worked and served together at the church helping in the food ministry, mowing the lawn, and cleaning the church.

Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Cora Harnden and Joseph and Stella Izworski and his father Ronald Harnden.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Tina, two sons Rancesom Carte'e IV and wife Christina, Baylen Carte'e and wife Tristin, his Mom Josephine Harnden, his sis Kim Baumgarten and husband William.  Two grandchildren Bentley and Adalynn Carte'e, two nephews Brandon Baumgarten and wife April, Eric Baumgarten and wife Adalyn, one niece Katelyn Baumgarten, two great nieces Bella and Amelia Baumgarten and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Also, his church brothers David, Gary, Keith, Nathan, Rodney, Cary, Noah and Trevor.  He will be greatly missed!

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Steve at 10AM on Friday, May 24 at Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Oilton, Oklahoma.  Pastors Nathan Painter and William Baumgarten will be officiating.
