Timothy Ray
Young
April 24, 1958 – July 26, 2023
Timothy Ray Young, 65, of Drumright, OK passed from his earthly life on July 26, 2023 in his home after a brief battle with liver cancer.
Tim was born in Bristow, OK on April 24, 1958 alongside his twin sister Kim to parents Lee Roy and Anna Lee Young. He grew up alongside his "womb-mate" and his other three siblings playing on the streets of their small town. In his early days, Tim was an Eagle Scout, swept the floors of the drug store making .25 cents an hour, and was a proud member of the '75 Bristow Pirate 2A State Championship Football team.
During high school, Tim attended Central Vo-Tech to become a draftsman. He then went to LYU (Lee Roy Young University) and began working for his dad at Young Tool Company in Drumright, OK. In 1982, while in a friend's wedding, Debbie Dennis caught his bright blue eyes, and after a dance or two they were married in 1983. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary alongside many friends and family who have made their life special.
After several years filled with ski trips and lake adventures, Tim and Debbie gave life to two daughters, Jessica and Jordan. Tim was a proud daddy to his girls and loved to keep them on their toes, surprising them with a road trip on a moment's notice or a spontaneous midnight run to iHop. If you knew him well, you knew he was more of a teddy bear than a grizzly bear. Protective, but a sucker for a good hug, his girl's tears or a sweet smile.
With more than 40 years in the oil field, Tim's peers have described him as a "master of his craft." During that time, he helped build Young Tool Company into one of the most respected down hole service companies in Oklahoma. He didn't stop there, and after designing multiple new down hole tools, he expanded Young Tool's presence into most of the major oil & gas plays across the country.
Over the course of his adult life, Tim was a faithful servant to his Lord through his work in the Church of Christ. He demonstrated God's grace through more than a decade of Tuesday nights in the prison ministry, many mission trips, and serving those in need around the community. Tim served as an elder in the Tri-County Church of Christ in Cushing, OK from 2002 until the time of his passing. He led with a servant's heart - never hesitating to lead singing, open the doors of the church, teach a class or preach a sermon.
Tim had many hobbies, from fishing to sprint car racing, but most recently reveled in being the proud grandfather to his four grandsons. On the weekends, you could find "Paco" giving the boys racer rides at the farmhouse, reading stories at bedtime, and ensuring they had their fill of Oreos and ice cream.
Tim leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Debbie; his daughter Jessica Risenhoover and husband, JP of Jenks; daughter Jordan Wilson and husband, Phillip of Edmond; his four grandsons, Burns and Jefferson Risenhoover, and Grady and Graham Wilson; his mother, Anna Lee Young; his sisters, Debbie Wigington and Kim Allen and husband, Bill; and his brother Steve Young and numerous extended family, church family and friends. In his passing, he was reunited with his father, Lee Roy Young, and his brother, Dennis Young.
Tim was loved and respected because of his fierce loyalty and willingness to help others. He loved to tell the waiter to buy that table's dinner but would prefer not to take the credit. He spent his life taking care of his family, worked hard, and loved a self-starter. Because he wasn't shy about sharing his short comings and need for God's grace, he was a light pointing many to Christ throughout his time on earth. While he is already missed dearly, we are thankful that he is enjoying his well-deserved eternal rest with his Savior.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tim's name to the Mission Fund at the Tri-County Church of Christ, P.O. Box 152, Cushing, OK 74023.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A Celebration of Tim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Tri-County Church of Christ.
Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.palmermarlerfh.com.
