Valton W. Wood, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in Tulsa.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2020 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cushing, OK.  Rev. Russell Payne will officiate.  Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Cemetery, Cushing, OK.  Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Valton was born on February 2, 1930 to Walter Fairbanks Wood and Hallie Gentry Wood in Stratford, OK.  Valton's family left Stratford moving to Modesto, Calif.  He met the love of his life, Reba Mae Crow at a church picnic in Turlock, Calif.  Reba's family had traveled to California from Holdenville, Okla.  As Valton was leaving to move back to Oklahoma, he looked at Reba and said, "If you are going with me, you better come on."  They were married on February 9, 1948.  Valton worked in the oilfield and helped coach the boys' baseball Team.   He sang in the church.  He was proud of his great marriage.  He ran a dozer for Jim Marrs and Jim Shideler in the Drumright area for 34 years.  Valton was known as the Best Dozer Operator around.  After retirement, he worked at K & W Well Service, Inc. and raised cattle.  He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Cushing, OK.  He was a great singer and sang at church as often as he could.

He is survived by his wife Reba.  They were married for 72 years on February 9, 2020 and he was so proud that they had a great marriage for all those years.  He is also survived by his  sons Kenny Wood and wife Charlene of Cushing, Steve Wood and wife Barbara of Cushing, Rick Wood and wife Karen of Crescent, Joe Wood and Becky, sisters: Rachel Williams, Sue Piland and Ruth Holden; brothers:  Charles Wood and Donald Wood, also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 6 and 1 on the way, great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Mignon Priest, Pearl Gray, and Clara Chandler; brothers Clinton Wood, Bob Wood, and Wendell Wood and one granddaughter: Stacy Michelle Wood.
