Viola "Joe" Blackwell, longtime Oilton resident passed from this life on Sunday, June 23, 2019 in Stillwater surrounded by family at the age of 75.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Oilton.

Services will be held at a later date.

Viola, better known as Joe, was born on January 10, 1944 to Alvin and Rosella (Gordon) Gates in Stillwater, OK. Joe grew up and attended school in Yale. After finishing school, she fell in love and married Bobby Browning in 1962. They had three loving kids: Angela, Robert, and Debbie. They spent 22 loving years together before his passing. In 1997, Joe remarried Clyde Blackwell. Joe was a loving wife and made sure her family had everything they ever needed. She was known for her cooking, fishing, and gardening. She loved spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.

Joe is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands: Bobby Browning and Clyde Blackwell; two children: Angela Spradlin, and Robert Browning; three brothers: Jack, Harvey, and Tim Gates; one sister: Rose Clark; one sister-in-law: Patricia Gates.

Joe is survived by one daughter: Debbie Kay Dennis of Yale; one step son, Roy Lee Blackwell and wife, Jackie of Yale; four grandchildren: Erin Baker and husband, Jeff of Glencoe, Tiffany Poole and husband, Mark of Oilton, Kayla Saunders and husband, Butch of Guthrie, and Jesse Dennis of Yale; twelve great grandchildren: Haley Moore, Jaelin Baker, Coy Baker, Aubrey Sams, Joshua Dennis, Thomas Poole, McKenzi Poole, Kori Saunders, Millie Saunders, Dawson DeShazer, Dacota DeShazer, and expecting Baby Baker.
