Wanda Lou Edwards was born in Perry, Oklahoma on July 20, 1935, to Harold Sargent and Eula (Tuttle) Hodge. She peacefully passed from this life in Stroud, OK, on July 14, 2023.
Wanda was one of four children born to her parents. She grew up and graduated from Perry High School in 1953. Wanda went on to begin her career in Parasitology working at Oklahoma State University for the next 25 years. Wanda thoroughly enjoyed her work and the many life long friends she made there.
Wanda married her love, Corky Edwards in 1960. They were married 62 years and raised three wonderful children, Chris, Tawni, and Eric.
When Wanda wasn't working at OSU, she enjoyed spending her time working for the Lord. She enjoyed working with the kids at the church's Vacation Bible School, spending time in the nursery with the little ones and teaching at Sunday school. She was dedicated to her God and to His people.
Wanda loved her family, but especially her grandchildren. After retirement, she spent many days following her grandson's baseball and football games through many different states and her granddaughters in their pageants, FFA and track & field. When not with her family and her church family, Wanda was an avid bowler spending any free time with her bowling league.
Wanda is survived her son, Chris Busse of Oklahoma City; daughter, Tawni Sigrist of Edmond, and son, Eric Edwards and wife Stacy of Mannford; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Ethel McNeil of Edmond and brother, Leo Sargent of Perry, as well as an innumerable amount of beloved friends.
Wanda was proceeded in death by both parents, husband Corky, sister Billie and son-in-law Mike Herring.
She will always be remembered for her many kindnesses and the generosity in her heart. She passed from this life on July 14, 2023.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 3pm at the First Baptist Church in Yale, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
