Wanda Wikel, age 72, of Yale, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 17, 1953, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Wilber and Betty (McCartney) Glasby.
Wanda attended school in Quay, Oklahoma, until her sophomore year and went on to graduate from Yale High School. On September 3, 1971, she married Bert Lester, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. From this union came four children: Michelle, Robert, Nick, and Daniel, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Wanda began her working years at Yale Public Schools before starting a long and dedicated career at American Heritage Bank, where she worked faithfully for 27 years. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and dependability.
A woman of deep faith, Wanda was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church and found great comfort in reading her Bible. In her quieter moments, she loved reading books, thrift shopping, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Wanda is survived by her three sons: Robert Wikel, Nick Wikel and wife Jaree, Daniel Wikel and wife Sierra.
She is also survived by five beloved grandchildren: Amelia, Briston, Harper, Matthew, and Blaine.
Wanda leaves behind four sisters: Louise Hatchett, Liz McKinney, Claudia McKinney, and Sharon Bates; and three brothers: Terry Glasby, David Glasby, and Phillip Glasby, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber and Betty Glasby; her husband, Bert Lester; her daughter, Michelle Wikel; and four brothers, Kenneth, Wilber, Paul, and George.
Wanda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A Celebration of Wanda's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Yale Assembly of God.
