It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Warrior Hudson Barrett Hiram Gibbs Jr., known by family as Hiram Gibbs Jr., on July 24, 2024, in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Warrior was born on September 1, 1953, in Pawnee, Oklahoma.  He led a life of service, dedication, and love for his community and family.  A respected drill sergeant, Warrior imparted discipline and strength to countless individuals.  As a tribal police officer, he upheld the law with honor and integrity, ensuring the safety and well-being of his community.  Later, as a security officer, he continued his commitment to protecting others.

Beyond his professional life, Warrior was a man of diverse interests and passions.  He found joy in playing the guitar, embracing the thrilling world of luchador wrestling, and participating in the rich traditions of Native American stomp dance and stickball.  Warrior was also a keen chess player, enjoying the strategic challenges of the game.

Warrior is survived by his devoted wife, Paula Gibbs, and their loving children:  Justin Gibbs, Monica Boyce, Melissa Gibbs, and Sabrina Duchannes.  He also leaves behind cherished memories with his grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy.

Warrior's life stands a testament to the power of dedication, love, and community.  He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  May his spirit rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Warrior will be held from 4PM - 8PM on Thursday, August 1 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be at 10AM on Friday, August 2 at Hunter Cemetery.
