Obituary

Wayne Hamm, a cherished husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2025, in Tryon, Oklahoma, at the age of 64. Born on August 14, 1960, in Lexington, Oklahoma to Joe and Wanda Hamm, he was the tenth of twelve children. Wayne was a man of integrity and strength, whose life was a testament to his hardworking and enduring nature.
Just like many people know, Wayne loved to share his stories, blessings and wisdom from his life with others, so we would like to share his story.
Wayne's early years were spent on the family dairy farm, where he learned the values of hard work and responsibility. His education may have concluded after the eighth grade, but his wisdom and knowledge were evident in everything he did. Starting from an early age, the values of selflessness and hard work were strongly instilled in him. Born from a desire to take care of the ones who took care of him, Wayne would help support his family with his hard-earned wages. A practice that continued all the way up till he was united in marriage to Tina Louise (McFarlin) Hamm, the love of his life, on December 17, 1980.
Not long after their union, he moved with his wife to Cushing, OK, to start his career in the oilfield. Leaving Prime trucking, Wayne started with Brady well service, eventually moving on to Baker well service where he worked for many years, establishing the good report that followed him the rest of his days. Wayne's long and storied career would provide him with many a testimony of Gods mercies on him, which he shared at any opportunity he had.
While living in Cushing, Wayne and his wife were blessed with their first two sons, Richard and Timothy. It was during this time that he realized he had something missing in his life: The Faith. He was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on July 31, 1986, by Brother Bud McFarlin at Uncle Charles's Pond, followed closely by his wife three days later. Three and a half years later, they were blessed with their third son, James. Not wanting to raise their family in the busy environment of town, they moved to their peaceful farm in the country, where they would bring their only daughter, Jeanne, and their fourth son, Jake, into their lives. It is here that they worked hard to raise a family that would become his life. A family that would eventually expand to include new children by marriage and many grandchildren.
After many years of working at Baker Well Service, Wayne became a contract pumper for Cher oil. As a pumper, he had more opportunity to put time into the things that really mattered to him: Faith and Family. Wayne found in himself a renewed zeal for serving the Lord, an earnestness that carried him till his final days.
Wayne's faith and ideals manifested themselves in every aspect of his life such as breaking and riding horses. A skill that demonstrated his patience and talent. He also took pleasure in sharing his knowledge with so many others. His passion transitioned to serving God as his focus, where he was able to teach others and stand many times to thank God for his second chance, and seeing all of his children come into the Faith.
In addition to his parents, Joel Oren and Wanda Vonola (Pruitt) Hamm, Wayne was preceded in death by nine siblings: Burl Hamm, Dale Hamm, Vonola McKenzie, Leonard Hamm, Joel Hamm Jr., Gladys Curnutt, Ruby Corter, Ethel Stoddard, and Daniel Hamm. Their memories were held close to his heart, and he often shared stories of their time together.
Wayne is survived by wife of 44 years, Tina Louise (McFarlin) Hamm; 5 children: Richard Hamm (Jessica) of Cushing, Timothy Hamm (KaeLoni) of Ripley, James Hamm (Monica) of Tryon, Jeanne Couch (Caleb) of Indianapolis, IN, and Jake Hamm; 10 grandchildren: Sarah Easter (Lionel) of Eugene, OR, Bonnie, Emma, Buckley, Easton, Bennett, Liberty, Wyatt, Gage, and Ava. He was a loving brother to Gaylene Pineda (Pat) of Agra and Ralph Hamm (Judi) of Early, TX. Wayne's life was enriched by the presence of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and brethren who will all deeply miss his wise counsel and thoughtful presence.
Wayne Hamm's life was one of purpose and joy. He touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and unwavering support. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return. Wayne's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his influence and the memories he created will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends for generations to come.
