Obituary

In Parkland, Oklahoma back on August 26th of 1942, Woodrow and Mary Howard welcomed a little boy and what a strong man he grew into.

Sawing trees, farm work,  and shocking peanuts too, he grew up working at a young age, there wasn't much that he didn't or couldn't do.

At the age of 19 he went to Hinton to eat lunch at a small cafe. Little did he know, his waitress was going to be his wife one day.

He couldn't resist her beauty, charm, character, and grace. She was kind, sweet, and always put a smile on his face.

They got married in Agra in the year of 1962. They worked on the road for a little bit together, and maybe even out ran a cop or two.

They settled down in Parkland, where they welcomed their three little girls. And even though they probably wore a few dresses and had ribbons on their curls....he taught them how to ride horses, how to fish, how to drive a truck. He taught them how to drive mini bikes, buggies and how to shoot a buck.

In the year of 1975, he bought 40 acres down the road. His bride, and girls worked hard beside each other to clear the land for their home.

Together they'd burn brush and cut down sprouts and trees. Working hard with their hands and getting dirt on their knees.

First, they moved in their trailer house from a few miles down the road. They moved it themselves. He was tight with his money and it really showed.

He built their home in 1992. He made it strong. He made it sturdy. From the ground up to the roof.

Even though he retired at the age of 62, he never stopped working, he always found something to do.

Building trailers, and hot rods, and fixing up cars. Going hunting, checking the cows, and tending to his yard.

He liked his cap, boots, his overalls, and his cut off shirts. He'd wear them over and over even if they were covered in dirt.

He didn't like town. He liked his place the best. To him, being there with Geneva was way better than the rest.

Making you smile, giving everyone a hard time. Making Geneva feel like drinking so much Pepsi was a crime.

Playing with his grandkids and great grandkids, too. He'd always light up when they'd come in the room.

He was tough, he was rough, but that's what made us love him more. He was who he was, and no one was changing him, that's for sure.

He left his earthly home on July 20, 2024 at the age of 81.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva of 62 years; his daughters and their husbands, Pam and Jeff Gann, Tina and Tommy Crenshaw, and Sally and Jeff Cartmell.

His grandchildren, Nicole and husband Kyle, Katie and husband Casey, Kayla and husband Derek, Tiffany and husband Cody, Jenni and husband David, Whitney and husband Dalton, Laci, Connor, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Kylee, Nicholas, Brilee, Whitlee, Case, Beckham, Laikyn, Dawson, Jozie, Eli, Oaklee, Khloe, Elizabeth, and Vivienne; two siblings, Phyllis and Eldon and many other family and friends.
