Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Whitson Franklin, Sr., age 73 of Cushing passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at his home in Cushing. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Cushing. Pastor Jim Wilhelm will officiate. Interment will follow at the Brethren Cemetery, Cushing.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Andrew was born on June 29, 1942 in Cushing, OK. to Jesse W. and Imogene (Pritchett) Franklin. He grew up in Cushing, attending grade school, Junior High then moved to San Buera Ventura, CA., where he graduated High School in 1960. He married Nancy Carter on December 29, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Cushing, OK. He attended Jr. College receiving his Journeyman's Plumbing license. They made their home in California where he was in business at Franklin Davies Plumbing. He later worked for the Southern California Plumbing Local Union. In 1975 they moved to Moore, where he worked with the State of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Plumbing Local Union. Then they moved to Cushing in 1976 and he went into partners with Franklin Plumbing until he started Continental Plumbing. In 1989 he began working at O.S.U. as plumber on campus until he was forced to retire due to illness in 1996. Andy was 32 Degree Mason and a member of Jaycees in Ca., Cushing Lion's Club, Elks Lodge and the Cushing Hospital Auxiliary. He was a very active member of the First Christ Church where he held positions as Elder, Deacon, President of Cabinet, Various Men's Clubs committees.

Andrew is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, son Andrew "Drew" Franklin Jr. and wife Laura of Westland, Michigan, daughter C'Ann Gordon and husband Donald of Edmond, OK., sister Janice Newman and husband Roy "Hap" of Oklahoma City, OK., grandchildren Tyler and Emily Franklin, three Aunts, cousins, and many family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
